Midnight’s Journey Inc. | Animal Shelter & Rescue | Lucky | Adire Photography I have been following Midnight’s Journey for a while now and I am so thankful that they are in the small town of Jarrell, Texas. It is so easy to dump off dogs and cats simply because its pretty much out in the boonies. Midnight’s Journey takes in dogs and helps find their owners or fosters them till they are adopted. I know they have seen their share of sick, unwanted animals but sometimes one can break your heart and make you cry non-stop. Midnight’s Journey got a call from a good samaritan about a dog they found and it needed help- so off they went.

This is Lucky, an older female, blind, and so scared. When you look at this picture you see a beautiful blackish/brownish older dog but Lucky has a very sad story. A story that will break your heart but just know she is in great hands now.

When Midnight’s Journey posted a picture of Lucky and my heart just sank and my mouth dropped- I couldn’t believe my eyes! I wanted to reach out and hug her, tell her that I am so sorry someone just dumped her like she was trash. that I am sorry someone let her fend for herself. That I was sorry that she was so hungry, that she had to go several weeks with no food….but I couldn’t because she was with someone else. I contacted Midnight’s Journey and asked if I could photograph and blog about her. To spend time with her once a week until she was healthy, happy, and then once she got adopted to give her and her new family a free photo session….Midnight’s Journey accepted my offer. I didn’t know what I was going to see, feel, hear, smell, touch…I just didn’t know. When Lucky arrived at our meeting spot I saw her face in the back seat of the car and I smiled….when she got out of the car my heart sank to the ground. My eyes filled up with tears but I kept them from falling. My eyes were frozen on her and my mind just went into all the “why’s”…WHY! WHY! WHY!

Now you see why I kept asking WHY!!!! Why would anyone dump her and think she could take care of herself? Why would anyone think that letting her find her way is ok? What could she have possibly have done for someone to do this to her? I just don’t understand!!  Lucky is now in foster care and she is SAFE. When she made a trip to the vet and she is heartworm negative, no GI parasites, she is blind in both eyes but the saddest thing is she has terminal cancer in her stomach. She is going to die but now she wont be alone. Now she has all the food and shelter she wants, love from Midnight’s Journey and all their animal loving fans. Lucky is getting extra special prayers from me and hopefully from you too!
